Exploring Screencasting

This Educreation on the Art Element: Line.  The teacher is explaining about different types of lines and how they can be used and understood in artwork.
This Educreation about the Color Wheel. The teacher is explaining the color wheel, mixing colors and relationships colors have to one another.

Both of these were created by teachers. The Line screencast is simple and very well done.  The Color Wheel one is a little longer, but gives a good presentation on the color wheel, though I think it is probably a little more involved than I would use with my students.

In the Line screencast, I thought the visuals made it very easy to understand.  Of course the narration explained and gave examples, as well.  I liked how the teacher wrote on the slide with the optical illusion when she was talking about the different kinds of lines.  I think I could probably use this with my students because it's clear and to the point.

The Color Wheel screencast was simply one picture.  Definitely not as interesting.  However the narrations and the annotations the the teacher made when she was talking about the colors or groups of colors and how they relate to each other was helpful. Is it weird that the writing on the annotation bugs me? It just seems so sloppy!

I also found this great resource about screencasting in the classroom.

I watched a tutorial on creating a Show Me presentation. When I create my screencast, I think I am going to need to really plan out what I am going to say before I start.  I did not realize I would need to create my Show Me all at one time.  I usually like to work on things a little at a time.  And since I will be speaking, I want to plan out what I will say with each slide I make.  The thing I really like about screencasts is being able to add annotations on a photo/slide while I'm explaining.
