I created a screencast of How to Make Your Own Scratch Art
Screencasts could really be a great thing in my classroom. I present lessons to the class and sometimes a student will miss it because of absence. I could use screencasts to present the lesson to those students at a later time, without having to reteach the lesson to them in person. I think kids would really like to learn this way, as well. I think I would post them on our class blog so that they could even watch them at home.
Another way that I could use screencasting in my classroom would be to have a student talk about their artwork. They could take pictures of their work and then record themselves talking about their artwork. Screencasting could even be used as a form of assessment to check for understanding of an art concept. I also think that screen casting could work for differentiating instruction. My classroom environment really already supports students at various skill levels, but I could create a screencast for a more advanced skill rare technique that I would not teach to the whole class, and I can think of some students who could benefit from the opportunity to try something new that takes what they're learning to a higher level.
The idea of using screen casts to help teach/reteach my students concepts or skills that they may have missed is an example of Augmentation in the SAMR model...the technology (screencast) is a substitute for the teaching I would do, but allows for greater flexibility in when and how the material in here lesson is presented.
